Fly Fishing 101 | Reno, Nevada

Whether you’re brand new or have already made the jump into fly fishing our Fly Casting and Intro Lessons are a fast track to becoming a more skilled angler. This lesson takes place in Reno, Nevada at one of the local parks right on the Truckee River. Each lesson is a private event with you, your friends, or family. We can accommodate large groups and offer a deep discount the more people that join. Fishing licenses are not required.

Just like our guide trip products, we provide all the necessary gear for the day including rods and reels. We cover all the basics from casting a fly rod to hooking and playing a fish. Other topics include knot tying, fly identification and fly selection, rigging , and gear recommendations. We finish the Fly Casting and Intro Lesson with a walk along the Truckee River and talk about reading the water. We’ll teach you what to look for in the river to find trout in any condition.

Planning a fly fishing trip abroad? Our Fly Casting and Intro Lessons are a great way to prepare for your trip. Many fly fishing opportunities in exotic places require an angler to be able to cast 40 – 60 feet in the wind with accuracy. Sharpen those double-hauling skills before your casting to the fish of a lifetime.

The Fly Casting and Intro Class runs for 3 hours

1 or 2 people is $225 and each additional person is an extra $100
